When Was The Last Time

What I love most about my home is who I share it with.

Family, Health and Home – nothing matters more. Roof over our heads, people to share our days with and the health to enjoy it all.

It starts with love! So on this Valentine’s Day I want you to LOVE your home. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, city or country, modern or even a little dated. It’s the place where you gather with the folks you love and make memories of the times spent.

But your house really needs YOU to show it some LOVIN’. It needs TLC. Just like you invest in your health and your relationships, we need to put some time into our homes. Remember – YOUR HOUSE is the BIGGEST investment of your life! It’s the key to open all kinds of doors. It’s value drives retirement, college tuitions, and your financial security. What have you done for it lately?

Every year you have to drive your car into the station for a check up. It’s the law, but no one is on your case about maintaining your home — except ME!

So I pose this burning question when was the last time you…..

(Psst – looks below)

So When Was the Last Time YOU…

Changed your heating filter? For blown air heating systems

  • You should change it every 3 months or as directed by the manufacturer. Read the manual. Trust me it’s riveting!
  • You need to stay on top of this because the filter takes the pollen, dust mites, pet dander and other particles out of your air!
  • You will have less dust in the house and you will breathe easier.
  • Do this after any remodeling work!

Cleaned under the fridge? and behind it too!

  • Dust and dirt accumulates under fridge and limit the air exchange for the motor ventilation. Pull the fridge out and vacuum well.
  • Take the grill off the bottom front and suck dust out of the coils.
  • Your fridge will last longer if you clean the dust out!
  • You’ll remove crumbs and “stuff” so you are less likely to get mice! That alone is reason enough.
  • Do the same for your oven. Lords only knows what is behind there right?

Checked in on your hot water heater?

  • Do you see any water on the floor?
  • Do you see rust along the bottom of the tank?
  • Did you know it may have a vacation mode, so you can save money by not heating the water while you are away!

Checked under the sinks for leaks?

  • Minor leaks can go undetected for weeks or months. It is good to go under the sink and feel around. Be sure things are dry.
  • Feel around the water supply lines and the drains lines for dampness,
  • Look for staining or mold stains if leaks have dried up.

Flushed the toilet in that guest bath or basement powder room?

  • Unused bathrooms can develop problems.
  • Don’t let plumbing fixtures sit for weeks unused. Mineral deposits can build up.
  • Flush toilets and run faucets 2-3X a month to keep everything flowing.
  • Mold can grow in the bowl. It loves dark, moist places.
